Vehicles in German City Discovered Covered with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Police stated they were alerted by a man who noticed a automobile in Hanau smeared with red-colored liquid

Around fifty cars have been covered with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Cars, walls and postal boxes were marked, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they announced in a release.

Police say they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a man noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued substance.

The liquid had been placed in the pattern of a swastika, they added.

Law enforcement then located many other vandalized cars and house walls in the surrounding area.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Officials report initial examinations suggest the substance was likely human bodily fluid.

"There is still no clue as to where it came from; authorities are presently not informed of any physical harm in relation with the incident," they commented.

Local authorities announced they were working "to solve the incident" and have requested to the community for tips.

A senior official said the attack left him without words and had to be addressed promptly.

"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he posted on social media, referring to the murder of nine people by a assailant targeting people of migrant background in February 2020.
